Your body doesn’t know when it’s swimsuit season.

How did your summer go? That’s right- I put that in past tense because summer is on it’s way out. Make way for pumpkins, leaves, fires, and then snow and holidays! So really, being real with yourself- how did your summer goals go? I know for many one of those goals probably included a “beach body”.  Now, let me preface this by saying every body is a beach body if it’s on the beach- love yourself and the body you’re in. However, if one of your goals included being more fit for your swimsuit season did you achieve that? If you did, what now? I am here today to say this: Your body has no clue that it’s swimsuit season. It wants to be healthy year-round.

So what’s your plan for fitness into fall and winter? Put it off until next year again and feel like crap through the colder months, make yourself feel bad when you try on clothes that don’t fit, and then crash diet and fad workouts? Sounds…awful. Or yeah, you nailed it moving into summer and that beach body ody ody was on fleek (do kids even still say this) and now that the season for showing is coming to a close so do your efforts? Now is the time to plan. Whether you have done nothing or everything, whether you gave body of Venus de Milo or Venus of Willendorf vibes; you need a plan for health moving into the next season of the year and your life.

This is for many reasons. First and foremost, just simply to remain healthy and active. Exercise helps to regulate mood, endorphins, sleep- nearly all bodily functions. Your body is not functioning at it’s best capacity unless you are eating properly and moving enough. Secondly- this helps to stave off the effects of SAD or Seasonal Affective Disorder. Getting moving will help to keep the winter blues at bay. And lastly, it is SO MUCH EASIER to continue habits than to form them. Did you know that you can lose up to 40% of your endurance in just two months? So if you decide “I’m taking the holidays off” in just November and December you could be 40% less capacity by the time “New Year New Me” rolls around. And btw- don’t wait until New Years resolutions either- science says you’ll give up on that in less than 28 days.

So start planning NOW. What will get you through winter happy and healthy? Purchase some small equipment to work out at home, follow my video and things online, do some bodyweight things, find things you like to do outside even when it’s cold- whatever it takes I can promise you it’ll be a happier existence than just hating the longer nights, dreading the cold, and hating yourself when the warmth comes again. And as always, I’m here to help. Let me know what you need. Be well- winter is coming!
